11 Point League (OxBG11)

Aimed at more experienced players, the 11 point league provides players with the opportunity to play a couple of 11 point matches per month over the course of a six month season.

 

Ideally matches are played live, either at Monday night sessions at the Slow and Steady or at any other mutually convenient time and place. Players should arrange their own matches. If necessary matches can also be played online on an agreed platform such as Heroes or Backgammon Hub.

 

There is an entry fee of £25. Entry fees are used to pay for the trophies fund and the prize fund. The prize fund will be split 70/30 between the league winner and runner-up.​​​​

7 Point League (OxBG7)

Aimed at newer and less experienced players, the 7 point league provides players with the opportunity to play a couple of 7 point matches per month over the course of a six month season.

 

Ideally matches are played live, either at Monday night sessions at the Slow and Steady or at any other mutually convenient time and place. Players should arrange their own matches. If necessary matches can also be played online on an agreed platform such as Heroes or Backgammon Hub.

 

There is an entry fee of £10. Entry fees are used to pay for the trophies fund and the prize fund. The prize fund will be split 70/30 between the league winner and runner-up. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Invitation to Join OxBG11 League

 

Entries are invited for the Oxford Backgammon 11 Point League Winter/Spring 2025 (OxBG11 2025/1)

 

All Oxford / Oxford adjacent players are invited to join the 11 point league. Please note that this league is aimed at reasonably experienced players. A similar 7 point league, aimed at newer and less experienced players is also available.

 

Matches can be played either live or online. Players are encouraged, where possible, to play live, either at regular Monday OxBG sessions at the Slow & Steady or at any other mutually agreed time and/or location. Where live play is not possible players can also play online on any mutually agreed online platform, e.g. Backgammon Hub, Heroes, Backgammon Galaxy.

All results, wherever and whenever played, should be promptly reported to the league administrator either in person, via Whatsapp (OxBG11  2025/1) or by email (oxfordbackgammon@gmail.com). Results and tables will be published on www.oxfordbackgammon.com.

 

All queries or disputes should be referred to the League Administrator.

 

The League Administrator is Phil Doubtfire.

Conditions for participating in this league are:

  • Entry is £25, payable by February 17th, either in cash or by bank transfer (details supplied on application)

  • Each division of the league will comprise a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 9 players. In this first season it is expected that there will be about 6 players in a single division

  • The season runs from January 20th to June 30th 2025;

  • The final composition of the league will be confirmed on 17th February 2025

  • Players failing to complete all of their matches by the season end date will be expunged from the league along with all of their results

  • The champion will receive an engraved trophy

  • The top two players will receive prize money

  • The prize money pool will be the sum of the entry fees less a contribution to the trophies fund

  • The prize money pool will be split 70/30 between the winner and runner up

  • Optional side pools will be available for those, if any, wishing to participate. 100% of the side pools will be split 70/30 between the two highest participating players

  • Entry to the side pools will close on 20th January

  • Suggested pool values are £25 and/or £50. This may vary according to a consensus of the participating players
