A busy Monday night session last night with a total of 19 players including 5 first timers - welcome to Amanda, Andrew, Joost, Nadia and Bezy.
A total of 9 league results were posted as the original season end date of June 30th hoves into view. However some fixture congestion has led to proposals to extend the end dates for both divisions to the end of August with the new league structure now due to commence on September 1st. With the season extension it now looks likely that all OxBG11 matches can be completed. To add just a little more impetus it has been determined that matches played after June 30th should be clock mandatory. I have spare clocks for those that need to borrow one. All bar one players in OxBG7 also look set to complete their fixtures. News from the one outstanding player is expected this week.
Back to the results... in OxBG11 Ben posted two positive results first whitewashing Dan and then getting the better of Tony Lee. In a match that may be consequential in determining the very first champion Fred North beat current leader Phil Doubtfire 11-8 moving Fred up to 2nd place in the division. And Kevin beat Wyon 11-8 leaving Kevin with 7 matches to complete his season. Hopefully these can all be played before the new season end date of August 31st.
In OxBG7 5 results were recorded with Toby managing to record three results, two wins, against Lucila and Ardi and a reversal against Freddy who also posted two results, the aforementioned win against Toby and a second win, this time against Ted. Lucila also registered two results, the defeat to Toby and then another defeat, this time by Alex.
It has been decided that the new league structure will now start on 1st September and will run on a three terms a year model. Entries for for the new league will be solicited soon. This is likely to leave a gap in competition for players who have largely finished the current league season. For those not engaged in league matches on Monday nights a series of evening mini-tournaments are being planned which will commence at 7.15pm on Monday nights, so anyone wishing to join is advised to arrive at 7pm to sign up - or call or message ahead. A chouette group has also been floated. A whatsapp group invitation link has been circulated. A date and venue will, inevitably, emerge at some point very soon.
Keep rolling!
