After a bumper session on 28th April followed by surprisingly large extra session on Bank Holiday Monday the numbers for this week returned to more normal levels. Nevertheless, we had 14 players including 4 newbies, Lucy, Leni, Hannah and Quinn. I'm keen to develop the local youth and their parents so was delighted to welcome them into the world of Oxford Backgammon.
With the end of our initial league season hoving into view I was rather hoping we could register a few league results. A couple were recorded withe Freddy D beating Paul in OxBG7 and Wyon beating Ben 11-5 in OxBG11. Wyon declined the offer for a second league match as he was seduced by the opportunity to join the chouette. Clearly this is an attractive proposition for some of the sporting types. However it would also be good to get the league season completed before the next one starts!
The next regular session is on Bank Holiday Monday 26th May from 6.30. I'm planning to be there although I shall also being playing at the London Open during the day. So if I'm late its because I've done better than expected in the capital!
