Originally planned as a “double header” for Dan and Phil, Monday night expanded into a relaxed impromptu Bank Holiday session involving 10 players completing 5 league matches and providing Freddy Doubtfire with the opportunity to put some rather more experienced players to the sword in a chouette.
In OxBG11 three matches were completed, with Wyon spoiling Fred North’s 100% record, Wyon winning 11-4. In the double header honours were shared, Dan putting a dent in Phil’s title ambitions by winning the first 11-7 before Phil gained his revenge with an 11-4 victory in the second match.
Another 100% record was broken in OxBG7 with Ardi first going down 7-4 to Lucila before being vanquished a second time, this time by Freddy Doubtfire who recorded a 7-5 win.

Emboldened by his league win Freddy then proceeded to the chouette which also involved Tony Lee, Mihail, Wyon, Dan and Phil at various points. There was just a single winner. Safe to say Freddy went home smiling.
Great to see so many players for a one-off session. However, it should also be noted that the end of the current season is now less than 8 weeks away with only four more scheduled Monday night sessions before the end of June. Several players still have a lot of matches to complete. Plans for reducing the match burden in the new league structure have been circulated but it really would be good to complete the current season’s matches before 30th June if possible. If anyone needs assistance in arranging matches, remembering there is an online option, please let me know.
Next regular Monday Night session is next Monday 12th May from 6.30 as usual. I’ve also pencilled in a Sunday Afternoon Tournament date for Sunday 18th May from 3pm, provided there is sufficient interest. Its likely to be a free entry tournament with optional side pools.
As ever feedback on any of the above much appreciated.
Keep rolling those dice…
